Story
The full story
When Yamama killed hundreds of reciters, Umar urged Abu Bakr: collect the Quran before more bearers fall. Abu Bakr called it heavier than moving a mountain - then did it.
Zayd ibn Thabit, the revelation scribe, accepted nothing without two witnesses - not even his own memory. Every verse was verified against written fragments and living reciters.
Under Uthman, spreading armies recited differently; Hudhayfah warned of division. Uthman commissioned Zayd’s committee to produce the standard text in Qurayshi dialect and sent copies to the provinces, burning unofficial sheets.
That Uthmanic text is the mushaf in your hands - fourteen centuries, one text, verified by witnesses before it was ever bound.
Narrated from widely transmitted histories without invented details.
