The full story
In 10 AH the Prophet ﷺ performed his only Hajj as prophet, teaching every rite step by step - take your rites from me. On Arafat he preached to over a hundred thousand.
The sermon abolished racism, usury and blood-feuds; honoured women’s rights; and declared the deen perfected (5:3). It remains Islam’s universal declaration.
Months later, after brief illness, he passed in Aisha’s chamber with his head on her chest. Umar denied it; the mosque reeled.
Abu Bakr unveiled the face, kissed it, then announced: whoever worshipped Muhammad, Muhammad is dead; whoever worships Allah, Allah is Ever-Living - reciting 3:144. The ummah breathed again.
