Story

The full story

Yusuf told his father the dream — eleven stars, sun and moon prostrating — and Yaqub foresaw prophethood, warning him to conceal it (12:4–6). Jealous brothers cast him into a well; a caravan sold him in Egypt for a miserable price (12:15–20). Bought by the Aziz, he grew in beauty and wisdom until the Aziz’s wife locked the doors — he refused, raced to the door, and was vindicated by the torn shirt’s direction (12:23–28).

Threatened with prison unless he yielded, Yusuf prayed: prison is dearer than their invitation (12:33). Jailed despite proven innocence, he called two inmates to One Allah and interpreted their dreams exactly — one restored, one crucified — but was forgotten for years (12:36–42).

The king’s dream of seven fat and lean cows unlocked the cell: Yusuf laid out a fourteen-year grain plan, was cleared publicly — the Aziz’s wife confessed — and was set over the storehouses as a knowing guardian (12:43–55). His brothers came begging; he hosted, tested, detained Binyamin lawfully, then revealed himself and forgave: no blame on you today (12:58–92).

His parents were raised to the throne and all prostrated — the childhood dream fulfilled — and Yusuf prayed: take me as a Muslim and join me with the righteous (12:99–101). The Quran calls it the fairest of narratives (12:3).

Narrated strictly from the Quran (Quran 12 (Surah Yusuf)) without invented details.
