Isa — The Messiah, Word and Spirit

Maryam withdrew to an eastern place, veiled from her people, when Our spirit appeared as a well-formed man (19:16–17). He announced a pure boy’s gift; she asked how, untouched and unchaste-never — he answered: thus your Lord decreed, a sign and mercy (19:18–21). She conceived, withdrew to a distant place, and labour drove her to a palm-trunk, wishing death before the ordeal (19:22–23).

A voice comforted her: grieve not — your Lord placed a stream beneath you; shake the trunk for ripe dates; eat, drink, be comforted (19:24–26). The infant then spoke from the cradle in her defence: I am Allah’s servant — He gave me the Scripture, made me a prophet, blessed wherever I am, enjoining prayer and charity while I live, dutiful to my mother, never arrogant (19:27–32).

His ministry carried signs by Allah’s leave: shaping birds from clay and breathing life, healing the blind and lepers, raising the dead, foretelling household stores — and announcing a messenger after him named Ahmad (3:49, 61:6). The table from heaven descended on his disciples’ request (5:112–115).

They did not kill him nor crucify him — it was made to appear so; Allah raised him to Himself (4:157–158). He will return: one of the signs of the Hour, judging justly, before dying as all men die — and the Quran closes his chapter with his own plea for his followers’ forgiveness (5:116–118).
