Dhuha (Chasht) Prayer - Time, Rakahs and Reward

1. 1After sunrise +15 minutes, make wudu and intend Dhuha.
2. 2Pray 2, 4 or 8 rakahs in twos with calm recitation.
3. 3Recite the Dhuha glorification (on our dua pages) and personal duas.
4. 4Aim for the late-morning best hour when possible.

Time and rakahs

Begins ~15-20 minutes after sunrise (after the disliked sunrise minutes) and runs till zawal (midday): pray two rakahs minimum, four or eight commonly, up to twelve. The best hour is when the young camels’ hooves burn - late morning (Muslim) - but any forenoon slot counts.

Two rakahs “suffice as charity for all 360 joints” (Muslim): the body’s morning zakat. Pray at home or work - masjid is not required; consistency of two beats occasional twelve.

Chasht, Ishraq, Awwabin - untangled

Ishraq: two rakahs right after sunrise for whoever stays from Fajr in dhikr till sunrise (Tirmidhi) - the “Hajj and Umrah reward” narration. Chasht/Dhuha: the same prayer prayed later in its best hour - one prayer, two names, not two prayers. Awwabin (six after Maghrib) rests on disputed narrations - pray them as general nafl without the “twelve years reward” claim.

Women at home, shopkeepers between customers, students between classes - Dhuha fits every schedule because its window is hours wide.
