When and how to seek it
The Prophet ﷺ commanded: seek it in the odd nights of the last ten (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th) - Quran 97 names it the Night of Decree when angels descend till dawn. Worship each of the ten nights: taraweeh, tahajjud, Quran, charity and the Qadr dua (Allahumma innaka afuwwun...).
Its reported signs - a calm bright night, a mild morning sun without strong rays - are identified after the fact; never skip a night because the signs “didn’t appear”. The 27th is many scholars’ best guess, never a certainty.
What to do on the night
Pray long rakahs with slow recitation, cry in dua, give charity each night (even a little), and recite the Qadr dua constantly - Aisha was taught exactly this wording. Reading one juz with understanding plus an hour of dua outranks social-media “Qadr checklists”.
Keep phones away, wake the family (the Prophet ﷺ woke his household in the last ten), and end with suhoor-time istighfar - the night closes at Fajr.
