How to

Steps in order

  1. 1Recite Surah Al-Mulk every night before sleep (2 minutes).
  2. 2Pair with As-Sajdah, Ayatul-Kursi and Baqarah’s last two verses.
  3. 3Correct memorization weekly from the mushaf.
  4. 4Teach children one verse daily - a month to completion.

Why every night

“A surah of thirty verses interceded for a man until he was forgiven” (Tirmidhi, graded fair-good) and “it protects from the punishment of the grave” (Nasai/Hakim) - so the Prophet ﷺ did not sleep without reciting Al-Mulk (and As-Sajdah). Two minutes before sleep buys the night’s guard.

Themes: blessed dominion, seven heavens in layers, the stars as missiles against devils, water vanishing into earth - then the challenge “who brings you flowing water?” Every verse ends at Allah’s power; sleep remembering who holds the night.

The nightly method

Recite after Isha or in bed with wudu, following along once weekly from the mushaf to correct memorized errors. Add As-Sajdah (the Prophet’s pairing), Ayatul-Kursi and the last two of Al-Baqarah - the complete Prophetic bedtime Quran set.

Children memorize Mulk first after Juz Amma short surahs - 30 short verses, one a day, a month to a lifetime shield.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Mulk really protect from grave punishment?

The Nasai/Hakim narrations say so and scholars receive them well - nightly recitation with belief is the practice.

Mulk or Yaseen at night?

Mulk has the stronger nightly-recommendation narrations; recite both if time allows, Mulk first.

Recite from memory or mushaf?

Memory for the habit, mushaf weekly for correction - both earn full reward.
