What Rajab is
Four months are sacred: Dhul-Qadah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab (Quran 9:36) - sins weigh heavier, good deeds shine brighter, fighting was forbidden. Honour Rajab with general worship: fast some days, increase istighfar, prepare for Shaban and Ramadan.
The Prophet ﷺ performed Umrah in Dhul-Qadah, never in Rajab (Bukhari/Muslim on Aisha’s correction of Ibn Umar) - Rajab Umrah has no special virtue, though Umrah then is perfectly valid.
What is not established
No specific Rajab fasting (first day, 27th) or “Salat al-Raghaib” (12 rakahs first Friday night) is authentically established - Umar discouraged singling out Rajab for fasting, and Raghaib narrations are graded fabricated by hadith scholars. The Isra and Miraj’s exact date (27th Rajab commonly cited) is not established either - celebrate the event’s lessons (prayer’s gift) without date-specific rites.
Rajab dua “Allahumma barik lana fi Rajab...” (on our dua pages) is famous but weak-chained - say it as general dua, and let Rajab be a quiet ramp into Shaban’s abundance.
