Handle suffering with wisdom-theodicy: this life is examination (67:2), eternal justice settles every tear, and the sufferer’s patience outranks the questioner’s comfort. Allah commanded Musa to address Pharaoh - Pharaoh - “with gentle speech” (20:44); your colleague deserves no less. Method: listen fully before answering (most doubters need ears before proofs), ask clarifying questions (“what would convince you?” exposes moving goalposts), concede valid points (colonial history, Muslim failures - honesty disarms), present Islam’s case positively (don’t merely defend - invite), and end with the Quran’s reading challenge rather than a forced verdict. Never mock, never rage, never debate to humiliate - a won argument with a lost heart is dawah-failure.
